La pétanque

A pétanque group for Haughley and Wetherden

We have decided to put together a pétanque team. First up is a training session with a Pétanque England coach — open to everyone, and no experience needed.

Coming up

Training session with Phil Boarder

Pétanque England coach

When
Where
The Grumpy Goat, BardwellBardwell Sports Pavilion, Spring Road, Bardwell, IP31 1AB
  • Phil will supply the boule — just turn up.
  • Need a lift? Let Richard Standen know and we will sort transport out.

Tuesdays do not suit everybody, so we will look to book a follow-up session with Phil on a different day for anyone who cannot make this one.

Reclaiming the Wetherden pétanque piste

There is indeed a pétanque piste in Wetherden! And it looks like this…

  • The disused pétanque piste in Wetherden — a timber-edged rectangle overgrown with grass and weeds, beside the tennis court and playing field.

We need to work out how to turn it back into a playable piste. Message the WhatsApp group if you have any ideas — meanwhile I will follow up with SL about the Parish Council.

But once we are all fully trained players, it would be great to be able to play locally and get more villagers involved.
